MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – November 26, 2012 5:00 PM

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted.
Wayne and Joanne Simeone following up on their meeting with the Selectmen of September 24, 2012 in regards to the town controlling the road dust on Hartland Road.
The Board of Selectmen explained due to financial restraints the least expensive option is to apply calcium twice a year. The Simeone’s stated that they are strongly against the town applying a calcium treatment.
The Board of Selectmen will request that speed limit signs be placed at both ends of Hartland Road. Police Chief Munson stated that Police Officer’s will be scheduled to run radar on Hartland Road more frequently. A request will be given to WPOA to place a notice within the WPOA community requesting that individuals using Hartland Road be considerate of their speed.
Michael Sullivan, Fire Chief stated that he will be presenting the Fire Department’s Fiscal 2013 budget to the members. Tires for Engine 4 needed to be replaced and were not included in Fiscal 2013’s budget ($1,400+/-). Grants for Firefighters 101 & 102 are being written.
Eric R. Munson, III, Police Chief received authorization to hire two officers to cover scheduled hours when Tolland’s current officer’s are not available (i.e. sick, vacation). Any field training will not be paid for by the Town of Tolland. An advertisement posted.
An article will be placed on a Special Town Meeting in January to authorize payment of an outstanding invoice from Pittsfield Communications $4,774.75.
Reviewed and accepted the Highway Superintendent’s job description. An advertisement will be placed in the local newspapers and will run through December 16th. Applications must be received by December 19th and will be reviewed at the Selectmen’s meeting on Monday, January 7th.
